Hack!Friday: How to build a programming language - for beginners

This month we have a Hack!Friday on the first Friday for a change:

On the 5th of June 2026 (this upcoming Friday), at our usual time of 7:42 pm, we will host another interesting lecture in our Hack!Friday series.

Severin is presenting the topic “How do you build a programming language? - for beginners”

“We’re using the classic computer science tool ‘Robot Karol’ as a starting point to build our own little programming language. This is designed to be used by 7th graders, so it looks a little bit different from what you’re used to seeing in C, Java, etc. We’ll cover lexing and parsing, tree-walking interpreters, and maybe a little bit of type checking.”

The talk will be presented in German and will last around a half hour. Afterwards there will be time for questions, diskussions, and relaxed socializing together. We’re looking forward to a good turnout! Feel free to invite other friendly beings along too 🙂
